Chris Stimson Bodybuilder
My name is Chris Stimson. As you may know, East Coast Muscle mentioned me as an addition to the staff. I was fortunate enough to be featured on the cover of an earlier issue. This came about as a result of my meeting Lou Messina at my first competition, the 1997 NPC Eastern USA Bodybuilding Championships, where I placed second in the heavyweight class. Shortly after the show, Lou and I met. We talked about my experience in bodybuilding and training. This was the beginning of a good friendship and business relationship.
Qualifications I'm a certified personal trainer at Pumping Iron Gym in NYC and World's Gym in Stamford CT, where I also do nutritional consultations. I attended Ithaca College for sports medicine and physical therapy. Some of my more notable clients include Maryland State Congressman Bob Ehrlich Jr., WWA Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Mark Frear, WHL pro hockey player J.M. Geraghty, and a lineman for the Baltimore Canadian Football League. This record led to me being pursued for the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Baltimore CFL Football Club and an invitation by the Washington Redskins Strength and Conditioning Coach Dan Riley to attend their All-Pro Strength and Conditioning Clinic. Finally, I recently was consulted in helping prepare Iona College's pre-season football strength and conditioning program.

Upcoming Plans As far as long range plans are concerned, I'm working on preparing myself for more competitions with more bodyweight. In the meantime, I will continue to pursue my modeling career. So far, I've been lucky enough to appear on the Dave Letterman show, a Joe Camel ad, and a Casual Male Big & Tall Billboard; I was molded as Captain America for Marvel Comics; and I am hoping to pursue acting.
Being a super-heavyweight who started out very skinny (165 lbs) and has competed at 6'4" 262 lbs., I've become aware of the advantages and disadvantages of being a super-heavyweight bodybuilder. With the advent of the NPC's super-heavyweight class, there is even more focus on the heavy classes. I hope to address some of these advantages and disadvantages in East Coast Muscle to help heavyweights and super-heavyweights make the most of their pre-contest and off-season training. Included will be some of the advantages of power bodybuilding to add size for athletes seeking to compete in the heavyweight and super-heavyweight classes.
I'd like to thank East Coast Muscle for letting me on the team, especially considering the more notable names that are now coming on staff.
This article was writen by Chris as an introduction. Sadily, we lost Chris to a motorcycle accident in 2000. His friendship is deeply missed.
