Are Bodybuilding Supplements Safe

Q: I'm kinda nervous about taking supplements with my routine. It was a big step for me to take whey but I've heard creatine hasn't been properly documented so no one really knows the side affects...It may sound strange but I compare creatine to steroids. Stupid I know but just concerned...thanks for your thoughts ...

A: There is no reason to be nervous about supplements. All items like Whey Protein and Creatine are is aids to your carefully structured and planned workout routine. Creatine has been around since 1832 and has been used by athletes since the 1950’s with it becoming commercially available in the 90’s. There is no logical reason to compare creatine to steroids. Creatine is found naturally in foods such as Herring, Chicken etc. The International Olympic Committee has classified Creatine as a food whereas Steroids are banned. No recognised, reputable study has found any side effects from taking Creatine Monohydrate. All reports of stomach cramps and muscle tears are anecdotal evidence, which can easily be avoided if a person is consuming an adequate supply of water.
